"Prevention of hate speech online" supports teachers and school communities in their fight against hate speech and discrimination and is part of the Norwegian government’s action plan against radicalization and violent extremism.

What Trainings giving participants tools to help prevent hate speech and extremism

For Education professionals, students and parents in Norway.

How Worshops based on the Council of Europe manual “Bookmarks - Combating hate speech online through human rights education” with activities designed for young people aged 13 to 18.

Result Young people, their teachers and parents are equipped with the competences necessary to recognize and act against hate speech.

Ingrid Aspelund is responsible for the programme "22 July and Democratic Citizenship", as well as coordinating EWC's projects related to issues such as prevention of hate speech, discrimination, and radicalization.

Aspelund has a Master's degree in International and Multicultural Education and a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies from Oslo and Akershus University College (now Oslo Met). She previously worked as a campaign advisor for the No Hate Speech Movement in Norway and was the head of Norwegian People’s Aid Solidarity Youth 2015-2017.
